Back in the day, Britney Spears was about as hot as they come. She was popular, had stunning good looks and best of all, she put on a great performance. No matter where she travels, her shows always seem to sell out. However, that was not the case for her most-recent UK tour. This woman, who used to be the ‘darling of the pop charts’, is now performing in front of half-full stadiums.
In recent years, Britney has lost that special touch that she used to have. Sure, she is still winning awards and selling CDs. However, her fan base is nowhere near as big as it used to be. A lot of people that do like her music are ‘undercover’ Britney fans. This means, they listen to her music in the privacy of their own home, but would not be caught dead going to one of her concerts.
This American singer came to London to perform in the 02 Arena. However, the critics nor the fans were impressed with what they saw. She sang a number of songs, but reports say that she only sang one song in its entirety, and that was ‘Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know’. During her songs, the dancing seemed to be a bit off.
Not only that, but Spears seems bent on trying to wear very skimpy and revealing clothing. Now, this used to work well for the pop star. People didn’t mind coming out to see a young, fit Spears bouncing around in tight clothing. Now she has more of a ‘full figure’. This is not to say that she is fat by any means, but her choice of clothing is questionable at best.
Although a lot of people did travel from all over London to come see her perform, reports showed that hundreds of tickets failed to sell for her ‘Femme Fatale’ tour. Judging at how this performance went, her next shows are not projected to sell out either.
The critics are being extra hard on Britney. They say that her performances fail to impress, and they lack any effort and charm. It almost seems like she expecting her name to sell tickets. That may have been the case years ago, but now she has to put a little more into it if she expects to sell out any kind of arena.
One thing that is completely working against Spears is her ‘sex appeal’. In the music industry, being sexy and popular seems to go hand-in-hand. However, she gained most of her fame during a young age. Her little ‘bubble gum’ sex appeal does not translate very well for an adult performer. She has to come up with a new look and a new attitude.
