Disney inquires Britney Spears to be role pose following Demi Lovato meltdown: BRITNEY Spears' downward spiral into treatment for drugs and alcohol addiction is well documented, but the bosses of Disney thinks she's the perfect role model for its young stars. Executives approached her in a bid to avoid another meltdown such as that suffered by 18-year-old singer and actress Demi Lovato.
Britney’s fellow former Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer Justin Timberlake has also been asked to counsel young performers. "Justin and Britney have been asked if they would like to come in and speak to their younger counterparts about the tribulations of being famous so young," said a movie insider. "The Disney bosses think that if they have people to look up to they might stay on the straight and narrow.
Britney, 29, hit the big time aged 18 with the song Baby One More Time but went on to spend time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation, notoriously shaved her head in public and lost custody of her two sons in 2007.
I truly hit rock bottom. Till this day I don't think that it was alcohol or depression. (...) was like a bad kid running around with ADD," she wrote on her website. in January 31, 2008, Spears was committed to the psychiatric ward of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre and put on 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold.
The court placed her under temporary conservatorship of her father James Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet, giving them complete control of her assets. That situation remains.
